“And he said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.””
Luke 23:43 CSB
.
Truly-firm,faithful,surely, absolute trust,confidence
.
Jesus said “Truly, I tell you” many times in the gospels.
.
Paul in 2 Corinthians spoke about being caught up to the third heaven-which is the dwelling place of God. He called it paradise
.
“was caught up into paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a human being is not allowed to speak.”
2 Corinthians 12:4 CSB
.
“Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:17 CSB
.
What is paradise? The king’s garden. A place of happiness and rest. The place of the glorified spirits. The place where God lives.
.
How do we get to Paradise?
.
Be like the criminal. Respect God. Know Jesus. Confess your sin. Call upon the name of the Lord. Believe and Ask Jesus into your life.
.
There was a deathbed conversion. It’s never too late until it’s too late.
.
The reward for him was heaven and it was immediate. Jesus said “Today”
.
The criminal said “Remember me”...Jesus said “You will be with me”
The criminal knew the awaited kingdom..Jesus promised him paradise.
.
Jesus gives paradise. Jesus is the only way to get to paradise.
““Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”
Revelation 2:7 CSB
.
If you haven’t confessed and gave your life to Jesus..be like the criminal ask Him!
The Prayer Request
“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided his clothes and cast lots.”
Luke 23:34 CSB
.
Jesus is already on the cross with the 2 criminals beside him. He asks the Father to forgive his murderers. They were busy dividing his clothes and casting lots. He was interceding for them that they might be saved.
.
Forgive-to send away, to let go, depart
Jesus prayed out loud- Do you struggle with praying out loud?
There was no quiet place, no away spot
.
His intercession was a fulfillment of scripture
“Therefore I will give him the many as a portion, and he will receive the mighty as spoil, because he willingly submitted to death, and was counted among the rebels; yet he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.”
Isaiah 53:12 CSB
.
He knew that His enemies were blind. He prayed for their twisted ignorant minds.
.
“A man is praised for his insight, but a twisted mind is despised.”
Proverbs 12:8 CSB
“Come to your senses and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.”
1 Corinthians 15:34 CSB
.
Forgiveness is the beginning of the life of the soul with God.
.
The Answered Prayer
.
God answered the prayer because through the death of Jesus was the wash of forgiveness of sin and salvation to His murders and the whole world.
.
The centurion eyes and mind was open.
.
“So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.”
Acts 2:41 CSB
.
“But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.”
Acts 4:4 CSB
.
Rescued from Wrath
“and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead — Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.”
1 Thessalonians 1:10 CSB
.
Hope for Eternal life
“so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.”
Titus 3:7 CSB
The Example
He interceded while dying, in suffering, in pain. Nothing should keep us from praying not even impending death
.
The Command
Forgive and Pray
.
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,”
Matthew 5:44 CSB
.
“bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High. For he is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.”
Luke 6:28, 35 CSB
.
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes.”
Romans 12:17 CSB
.
Digest questions ?
.
Who is it that I see as the murders in my life?
The people that I feel don’t deserve my prayer time/
How is my prayer life? How often am I interceding selfless prayer?
What has today’s message taught me about my response to pain, agony and trials?
Where do I need to seek forgiveness from the Father for my ignorance?
“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.”
James 4:7-10 NLT
“So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”
James 4:7-10 MSG
Before your worship, your must wash.
“Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?”
Psalms 24:3 NLT
“Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.”
Psalms 24:4 NLT
It’s my hands... what have I done ?
The sin on our hands keeps us a distance from a God.
Are you and God social distancing?
Drawing near brings conviction
Washing your hands reminds you to remove evil from your heart.
You wash by repentance
“When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims. Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways. Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.”
Isaiah 1:15-17 NLT
“Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.”

“If you return to the Almighty, you will be renewed. If you banish injustice from your tent”
Job 22:23 CSB
.
The parable of the lost son teaches us that God wants a relationship with us. He wants us to have eternal wealth.
.
“The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons.”
v.12
We like the son in this parable are wasteful. We are in a time of famine and chaos in our land and it's time to stop starving for attention, money and power, success relationships etc
.
He got so hungry that pig food looked good.
We can't keep looking at what is pleasing to the eyes and the stomach.
Even when it's something we know we shouldn’t have.
What sin is looking good to you right now? and you know its pig food?
We must come to our senses v17 He remembers that there was an abundance back at the house.
We can go to the Father knowing the he promises blessing from obedience and there is no lack with God
Humility is necessary. He recognized his sin and wanted to be a servant. He wanted a position in the house of God.
Do you want a position in the kingdom of God

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”
Matthew 5:9 CSB

A peacemaker is a mediator, promotes harmony, resolves conflict between estranged parties

A peacemaker identifies truth, addresses sin, and constructs a bridge between two parties.

A peacemaker is a son of God because He is the Peacemaker, who sent His son to identify the truth, address our sin and construct a bridge for us to God to make peace with Him.

Peacemakers must have peace with God
No one can make peace until he has found peace ..Peace with God.

First you must have a pure heart in order to promote peace.
How can you not be right with God and promote peace?
Peacemakers are led by God’s Spirit

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
Matthew 5:8 CSB

Purity starts in the heart. Your mind and heart must be right to be in the right relationship with God.

Only those whose hearts are right have access to God.

“Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.”

“Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.”

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
Matthew 5:7 CSB

Blessed are the merciful...it’s something you have already received

Content, sheltered by God’s promises.

Forgiving and compassionate spirit

To receive mercy is to get what you deserve, to receive pity instead of just condemnation.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Hunger-to be hungry, to be needy, crave, seek with eager desire
Thirst -suffer, thirst for a long time, wanting a soul refresh
Filled-but longing for more.
.
You have to have the right spiritual appetite.
As we sit in our homes, not able to go to fine dining or local restaurants, it's causing us to make meals at home that suit our appetite.
But do you have an appetite for the Lord? Are you craving the things of Christ?
While we are near our snacks during this time, we should feast on the Word of God. Jesus and chips!
““You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.”
Matthew 5:6 MSG
.
You have to know the food source.
““Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the water; and you without silver, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without silver and without cost! Why do you spend silver on what is not food, and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and you will enjoy the choicest of foods.”
Isaiah 55:1-2 CSB
Come everyone -it's free food
You can’t purchase it because it's free. Something your money can't buy
Jesus offers free salvation as a gift to anyone and everyone who is thirsty and wants to come.
Eat what is good. He is good. Taste and see

What do I hunger for?
Power, success, relationships, comfort, happiness
What is my source when I am hungry ?
Am I spiritually malnourished? What nutrients do I need to add to my diet? More Word, more prayer, more worship?

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4 CSB
.
Do you have personal grief over the sins you have committed?
.
Are you sad over the things that sadden God?
.
If it grieves God, should we be grieved?
.
It’s about having an attitude of repentance.
.
We should be giving our nation right now. We need to be in repentance.
.
The blessing of repentance is the comfort received from God. It’s freeing to repent.
.
Those who mourn are comforted and provided something different.
.
“to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of our God’s vengeance; to comfort all who mourn, to provide for those who mourn in Zion; to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, festive oil instead of mourning, and splendid clothes instead of despair. And they will be called righteous trees, planted by the Lord to glorify him.”
Isaiah 61:2-3 CSB
““God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”

What do we know about Esther
.
There was a search for a new queen after the old queen was revoked
.
Esther was fit and fine.
“Mordecai was the legal guardian of his cousin Hadassah (that is, Esther), because she had no father or mother. The young woman had a beautiful figure and was extremely good-looking. When her father and mother died, Mordecai had adopted her as his own daughter.”
Esther 2:7 CSB
.
Esther found favor with the king.
“The king loved Esther more than all the other women. She won more favor and approval from him than did any of the other virgins. He placed the royal crown on her head and made her queen in place of Vashti.”
Esther 2:17 CSB
.
Esther was faithful to her people.
She made sure Mordecai was out there looking crazy.
Although her Jewish background had not been revealed she repped her people
.
Mordecai reminded her that just because you are in that palace, don't forget where you came from. .
“Mordecai told the messenger to reply to Esther, “Don’t think that you will escape the fate of all the Jews because you are in the king’s palace.”
Esther 4:13 CSB
If you don’t, someone else will.
“If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jewish people from another place, but you and your father’s family will be destroyed. Esther 4:14 CSB
.
God’s plan doesn't stop because you don’t want to get in position.
.
God is looking for those who are willing to work for His Kingdom
.
Although God’s name is not mentioned, Mordecai says who know, maybe this is the reason you are in this position in the first place.
.
Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.””
Sis, Maybe God has you in your position for a reason for such a time as this ? Are you being faithful to the role He has placed you in?
She was willing to risk her own life for her people. Where do you need to take some risk for others? Where do you need to die to self ?
Mary was a witness to the birth and death of her Son, our Savior
.
Mary was favored, the Lord is with her.
.
“And the angel came to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you.””
Luke 1:28 CSB
.
Imagine being a young finance’ planning your wedding and boom this happens. This does not make you feel favored with the type of message. You are receiving. You have to tell your fiancée that how I’m pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Then only to have your son be murdered for all of humanity
.
What kind of message is this?
“But she was deeply troubled by this statement, wondering what kind of greeting this could be.”
Luke 1:29 CSB
.
The Ultimate Gender Reveal..
ITS A KING
.
Mother of the King
“Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end.””
Luke 1:31-33 CSB
.
““I am the Lord’s servant,” said Mary. “May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.”
Luke 1:38 CSB
.
Lessons from Mary
Trust the plans of GOD over your life. Mary was planning to get married and live her new life with her husband. And there was a miraculous change of plans.
Gods’ favor doesn’t mean fame and riches. He could give your humble favor.
Don’t doubt the sovereignty of God. If God can put a baby into a young woman by His Holy Spirit Power, HE CAN DO ANYTHING!
Be ready to serve the Lord wherever He is calling you.

Let’s talk about the Adulterous Woman
The religious teachers and the Pharisees bring out the woman who had been caught in adultery.
They put her in the center.
They requested to know what should be done from Jesus. They were trying to set him up because the law was meant to bring both parties and stone them. If Jesus would have agreed he would have been violating the law.
Jesus answers:
“They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!””
John 8:7 NLT
They left the scene.
THen Jesus and this woman have an encounter.
“Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” ----------”
John 8:10-11 NLT
.
Who can stand up and stay that they have no sin? If so you are a liar.
.
Jesus lets her know you are not condemned but don’t do it no more.
.
Digest ?
⭐️How many times have you judged someone for their sins? How many times have you put someone in the center instead of focusing on your own sin?
.
⭐️How many times have you prayed in a justified spirit that somehow your sin was less than the other person?
.
⭐️Where do you need to forgive and have compassion on someone ?
.
⭐️Are you like this woman? If there something that you need to let go and sin no more?
.
Jesus is ready to forgive but confession and repentance is necessary turning away and sin no more.
What do we know about Mary Magdalene:
“and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary, called Magdalene (seven demons had come out of her);”Luke 8:2 CSB
“Afterward he was traveling from one town and village to another, preaching and telling the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,”
Luke 8:1 CSB
“Many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and looked after him were there, watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.”
Matthew 27:55-56 CSB
“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were seated there, facing the tomb.”
Matthew 27:61 CSB
“Early on the first day of the week, after he had risen, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.”
Mark 16:9 CSB
.
“Just then Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” They came up, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.””
Matthew 28:9-10
.
So her faith had to be on fire. She witnessed both the death and resurrection of Christ.
.
What we learn from Mary Magdalene:
We are to support the work of Christ. Women should have a role in ministry and sharing the gospel.
We can witness the gospel by spending time with Jesus.
We can watch from the distance of our laps as we read His Word.
We can see that evidence of His resurrection in the Holy Spirit that he has left for us.
We can wait patiently at the foot and worship as we wait to see Him on that glorious day.
Tamar Genesis 38
Two husbands died...took matter in her own hands by sleeping with her father in law to preserve family.
.
Two looks: outfit of the day
She took of her widow clothes for a moment to become like a prostitute
And then she put the back on went back to the widow look
.
“So she took off her widow’s clothes, veiled her face, covered herself, and sat at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had grown up, she had not been given to him as a wife.”
Genesis 38:14 CSB
.
Two babies: Prez & Zerah
.
“Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fathered Aram,”
Matthew 1:3 CSB
Two Truths from the story of Tamar:
God will turn things around from His good. Because of Tamar she had a son named Perez and Perez in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
When Tamar was plotting, she probably didn’t realize she was doing kingdom work.
God doesn’t accept sin or condone sinful situations but He uses them.
Tamar should not have took matter into her own hands, but she did, and God used her to be part of the covenant.
.
No matter what you have done, God will use you for his Kingdom.
Digest ?
Where have you felt like God was taking too long to deliver and you took matter in to your own hands? How did it turn out? How Did He use the situation to grow you? Is there a situation that you need to repent and release ?

But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.””
Luke 10:38-42 CSB
.
If Jesus was on the way to your house what would you be doing?
Mary was in position. She was ready to hear from Jesus. She was focused on Him. She was listening.
.
Martha was serving but distracted. She was multitasking. As women, we are the queens of multitasking
.
Martha was actually doing a good thing by preparing for Jesus. We can be actually doing great things for Jesus and still be distracted from Jesus.
.
He wants to serve, but he also wants you to sit.
Your serving shouldn’t take away from the personal time alone with Him.
.
So Martha complains to Jesus about what she felt like was lack on her sister’s behalf.
.
Jesus responds: You're worried and upset about many things.
To be anxious, troubled with cares. Upset-disturb (bothered)
.
He tells her there is one thing to be concerned about and Mary chose that.
.
He was that one thing.
.
“My choice is you, GOD, first and only. And now I find I’m your choice!
Psalm 16:5-6 MSG
“I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking him in his temple.”
Psalms 27:4 CSB
“When Jesus heard this, he told him, “You still lack one thing: Sell all you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.””
Luke 18:22 CSB
What can we learn from these two women :
Digest?
Who do you identify most with Mary or Martha?
If you are in the Martha spirit of doing , how can you release that spirit and become more like Mary?
Are you bothered? Maybe because you are doing too much?
What need to let go to put Jesus in the position of 1?
The Chew:
Sit then serve
““At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’””
Genesis 2:23 NLT
.
Eve (1st women in the world, the mother of us all)
.
We are like her in so many ways. We cheat on God’s blessings for Satan’s messes.
We focus on what we don’t have instead of what we do have. She was only missing fruit from one tree.
She blamed others for her sin.
.
She was created by God to be Adam’s helper. She was taken from his rib.God took his time with the woman. Adam was dirt with breath. We were taken out of flesh and bone. She was different. She was a part of him(Adam).
.
Adam gave life to Eve. But Eve gave life to the world. She is at the top of the world’s family tree.
.
God knew that Adam couldn’t be alone.
The first Christian mingle. God brings her to Adam. (Verse 22)
.
Just because she was called the helper doesn’t mean she was the “help”.Not a slave mentality or personal assistant.
.
A partner at the side. Ribs come from the side. She was not taken from the head or the foot. Not for her to control him or under his feet.
.
We learn from Eve:

Acts 17:11 (CSB) The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
To see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth . NLT
V12 As a result, many believed.
They were ready to hear the Word. There minds were opened
They searched it daily for themselves to seek out the truth.
They didn’t just accept the man (Paul) word. They looked for themselves.
They wanted to see if he was delivering the message of facts and not fluff .
They did it DAILY! To find out! To see if these things were so
And they found the truth and that Paul was legit and many people believed.
The Digest:
Do you receive the Word of God with eagerness?

Do you seek the Scriptures when you have heard a Word from someone to see if it lines up with Scripture>

“Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same understanding — because the one who suffers in the flesh is finished with sin — in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for God’s will. For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry. They are surprised that you don’t join them in the same flood of wild living — and they slander you. They will give an account to the one who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. For this reason the gospel was also preached to those who are now dead, so that, although they might be judged in the flesh according to human standards, they might live in the spirit according to God’s standards.”

Leaving everything that doesn’t create spiritual growth
and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Ephesians 3:17a
.
Dwell-settle, inhabit
.
Jesus want an Permanent home. Jesus don’t want be a visitor.
.
Your heart is not an airBNB just letting anybody or anything take space.
.
There is a thief that want to bust up in that dwelling place. You have to kick him out. Resist the devil and he will flee.
.
What’s dwelling in your heart that is causing Jesus to be crowded?
.
It’s take spiritual strength to kick someone out your heart. That affects the amount dwelling space in your heart. This is not a duplex. The is not two dwelling houses. You only can have one master!
.
Just like you don’t want certain people in your home.... your don’t want certain people or things in your heart!
The Chew:
Evict the spiritual squatters, let them know someone is home and his name is Jesus!

Leaving the thoughts that don’t line up with God's purpose.
If we are thinking negative thoughts, defeating thoughts,
We are thinking like the natural man the only way to change the thought is thru the spirit. The Holy Spirit is given as a helper after you are in Christ.
“For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND and PURPOSES OF THE LORD, SO AS TO INSTRUCT H IM? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].”
1 Corinthians 2:16 AMP
.
Remember the WWJD bracelets? We should be thinking WWJT? What would Jesus think?
.
Based on what we know to be true about Him? Would he be thinking so low, so down, so defeated? Will he say I can't?
.
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7a NKJV

Our thoughts have a lot to do with who we become.

Wisdom Wednesday
Let’s look at Leaping away from being wise in our strength and plans
“Many plans are in a man’s mind, But it is the LORD ’ S purpose for him that will stand (be carried out).”
Proverbs 19:21 AMP
We make a lot of plans for our day, our menu, our budget, our 5 year plan, 10 year plan, we plan our wedding plan when we are going to have kids. We plan future
We purchase planner and write it all out.
But we must hold to the plan lightly because it is the Lord plan that will ultimately work out for our good.
How have you seen your plans fail only to see that the Lord had something better or bigger in the first place ?
Go ahead and make all the plans you want, but it’s the Lord who will ultimately direct your steps.
Within your heart you can make plans for your future, but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there.”
Proverbs 16:1, 9 TPT
“The Lord has prepared everything for his purpose — even the wicked for the day of disaster.”
Proverbs 16:4 CSB
Knowing that He has planned everything for you and for His purposes, How might this change the way you “plan” your life?
All of your plans have to go through the sovereign God.
Does your plan line up with the will of God?
The Chew:
Plan lightly, He will accomplish rightly!
How do I leave everything that’s apart from my purpose in Christ ?
leave things the doesn’t
“Finally, believers, we ask and admonish you in the Lord Jesus, that you follow the instruction that you received from us about how you ought to walk and please God (just as you are actually doing) and that you excel even more and more [pursuing a life of purpose and living in a way that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation].”
1 Thessalonians 4:1 AMP
.
Our purpose is to walk and please God slave of Christ bought with a price
“Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be sober-minded and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
1 Peter 1:13 CSB
