“They said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us while he was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?””
Luke 24:32 CSB
Two men traveling after the resurrection were discussing and arguing about all that had taken place. Jesus comes near and starts to walk with them. They are prevented from recognizing him. Jesus inquires about their conversation. They ask Jesus if he did not know what had just happened three days prior. They described to Jesus the crucifixion. They had hoped that the Messiah would be coming because it was the third day, and they hadn't seen him.
Jesus stated that they were foolish and slow to believe. He explained that the crucifixion was necessary.
They invited Jesus to stay with them. When Jesus became their host, and broke the bread. It was then they recognized Him. But Jesus was gone.

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.”
James 4:7-10 NLT
“So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”
